Blackpool Council

Polly is Head of Culture, Heritage, Libraries and Arts Services for Blackpool Council. She is Vice-Chair of cCLOA (Chief Culture and Leisure Officers Association) and a facilitator for the Windsor Leadership Trust.

Polly is passionate about the role of culture in changing lives, building resilience and supporting economic growth.  She started out at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and as a poet specialising in working with vulnerable people in hospitals, prisons and youth centres.  Polly has worked in regeneration settings in Scotland, Dorset, the Welsh Valleys and now Blackpool. She has run theatres, cinemas and art galleries as well as building up a track record in delivering creative solutions to strategic challenges: from Volcano – a creative digital media programme in Poole to foster community engagement; to co-founding Zoom Cymru, a young people’s international film festival to build local skills for the burgeoning Welsh broadcasting industry; to the development of a new museum celebrating Blackpool’s contribution to British popular culture.
She was the Arts Council of Wales supported Clore Fellow in 2006-2008.
